This site is satire
Everything published on this site is political satire, written in the tradition of Erasmus of Rotterdam’s The Praise of Folly (1511), in which Folly praises herself and the reader is meant to see through the praise. The essays use the same device. Their narrator praises things in earnest, and the essays are written to be read ironically.
The narrator is fictional
Dalton Merriweather is a fictional character. He is not a real person, and no real person’s views, words or likeness are represented by him. Any resemblance between the character and an actual person is coincidental. Moria Media is the publishing name of this satire project.
No candidate or party connection
This site is not authorized by, paid for by, or coordinated with any candidate, candidate’s committee, political party or political committee. Where an essay mentions a candidate or a party, it does so as commentary. No endorsement by any candidate or party is stated or implied.
Not paid political advertising
No one has paid to publish, place or promote this content. It is the uncompensated expression of its author, published on the author’s own website.
Facts and opinions
The essays are opinion and satire. Where an essay states a fact about Texas law or public events, that fact was checked against public reporting before publication. Everything else is the fictional narrator’s opinion, feeling or invented anecdote, and should not be read as a statement of fact. Anecdotes about neighbors, relatives and townspeople are fictional.
Corrections
If you believe a factual statement on this site is wrong, it will be reviewed and corrected. The author takes accuracy seriously, even when the narrator does not.
